all Animal Committee and Show, I watch the show from the distance, helping the ones in charge of each show where I can.
It’s show time ― the judge starts through the area, stopping, removing animals from the pens, checking, talking, and answering questions. At last he’s done. Over seventy-five birds have been judged. Ribbons are awarded.
The day is over. The small animal show is done for another year. Kids, cats, dogs, rabbits, and poultry head home.
Mom and the young ones are leaving. How did it go? I ask. I did not win the top prize, he replies. I look at him. Did you learn anything? Yes, he answers. Did you have a good time? ― A smile and a YES!
