Dear Community Partner,
Johnson County United Way invites you to join us as we begin a new endeavor. We are currently organizing our first Day of Caring event, scheduled for Saturday, October 16, 2010. Through the years, Johnson County United Way has enjoyed tremendous support from our community. The generosity of our community has provided the means to support a variety of service organizations, meeting the needs of thousands of our neighbors.
While monetary donations are always needed and greatly appreciated, we would like to offer another avenue of helping others. The Day of Caring will give service organizations such as yours the opportunity to directly impact the lives of those in need. United Way agencies have provided us with a list of projects that need your help. Those projects are:
· Survival Adult Abuse Center – basic yard work, removal of tree branches, etc.,
· Homemaker’s Health Care – general cleaning and maintenance projects for multiple clients (one client = one project),
· Senior Center – basic yard work for multiple clients (one client = one project).
As you can see from the list, some projects are single, one-site projects. Others may involve working at various locations. We are asking that teams commit to working half a day on a selected project. For example, an organization may have two or three teams. Each team would select one project which could be completed in 3 – 4 hours.
Can we count on you? We hope your organization will be able to create a team that can give to others on this first Johnson County
Day of Caring. Please contact Shirley Stanke at 660-909-5776 or
sstanke@charter.net by
October 8. If you have a preference regarding a particular project, please share that with Mrs. Stanke when you contact her.
I hope you can join us!
Sincerely,
Deborah Orr
